AmeCon 2010 - Charity
As well as our main events at each AmeCon, we also run a series of charity events to raise money for those in need of our support. Every AmeCon we select a charity which you can support through our charity events, including our auction which sells many uncommon and rare items to the highest bidder.
It is hoped that during a weekend where we are enjoying ourselves, we are hopefully able to bring some joy to many others in need of help. In 2007, we raised £1400 for the NSPCC and this year we hope to bring some support to our selected charity.
About 2010’s Charity
We’re pleased to announce that the charity for AmeCon 2010 will be the Donna Louise Children's Hospice Trust.

The Donna Louise Children's Hospice Trust runs a hospice covering the Staffordshire and South Cheshire areas, providing respite and end of life care for life limited children aged between 0 - 19 years old. Currently in its 10th year of operation, the Trust's goal is to open to its full capacity, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, following the announcement at the beginning of 2009, that as a direct result of funding they were having to reduce to just 4 days a week.
The patrons are Robbie Williams and Lord Stafford, and many other personalities from the Staffordshire area are also involved. Stoke City FC midfielder and long throw-in specialist Rory Delap cycled more than 200 miles from Edinburgh to Newcastle-upon-Tyne to raise money for them in 2008; Tony Pulis, the Potters’ manager, ran the 2009 London Marathon in aid of the Trust, and he’s also in preparation for Kili4Kids, which is an attempt to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in May with one of two teams. The other team is headed up by Nick Hancock, presenter of They Think It’s All Over and the original host of Room 101 on BBC TV, and well-known Stoke City supporter - Nick’s team has also drafted former England goalie David Seaman into their ranks.

Over the weeks and months in the run-up to AmeCon 2010, we hope to bring you some more information and news regarding the Donna-Louise Trust and the amazing people who dedicate themselves to running the hospice. And of course, we want to make a huge amount of money for them so they can keep on helping as many families as they can.
After what we’ve been able to do for our previous charities, thanks to all of you, we can’t wait to see how it all turns out.
Keep an eye on this page for any news - and if you want to know more, the Trust’s own website can be found here.
